WBC Ministy Partner For April: Norma Caddell

Thank you for praying for me.  God’s word is living and   powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul, and spirit, and of joints    and marrow, and it a discerner of the thought and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12), please pray His      word not only for me but also for those who He puts on   your heart.

1.   That I will not leave my first love, Jesus
a.   The distractions here and demands on my time rob me of the time I spend with Him.
b.   Norma, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength (Deut 6:4, Mark 12:29)
2.   I will seek Him with all my heart
a.   I want to grow more and more in love with Jesus and to seek His face
b.    Lord said “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face Lord, I will seek.”
3.   That I will keep my eyes on Him
a.   It is so easy for me to get distracted by the things of this world and all the demands on me
b.   But my eyes are upon You, O God the Lord; In You I take refuge (Psalm 141:8)
4.   I will be filled with the fruit of the spirit
a.   I want His love to flow through me to others
b.   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  (Galatians 5:22-23)
5.   I will TRUST Him no matter what He leads me through
a.   I don’t understand all the Lord is doing in my life this season, but I trust that He knows best, I want to rest in Him and not lean on my own understanding.
b.   Norma, trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5)
6.   I will have a heart of Thanksgiving and gratitude for all He has done
a.   I truly want to have a heart of gladitude and gratitude.  I can be so critical and negative at times.
b.   Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms (Psalm 95:2)
7.   I will walk worthy of Him
a.   I pray to be more and more like Jesus
b.   Finally brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God (1 Thessalonians 4:1)
8.   For boldness to proclaim the gospel
a.   My focus was on evangelism in Africa and my hearts desire is that I will have that same opportunity and boldness here in the USA
b.   Meanwhile praying also for us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ…(Colossians 4:3)
9.   To pray fervently for the saints and the church
a.   I had so much more time to pray in Africa, I feel like so many things demand my time right now
b.   Norma, pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
10.                       I will persevere and finish the race He has set before me
a.   I long to be before the Lord and hear Him say, “well done true and faithful servant.”
b.   I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7)
11.                       That the word of Christ will dwell in me richly
a.   I long to know Him through His word
b.   Norma, let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16)
12.                       Pray that my sons and grandchildren will seek God with all their hearts
a.   I pray that my children, grandchildren and beloved will have this desire:
b.   One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek, That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple (Psalm 27:4)

Are we a part of a Church or a Family?

Recent studies have shown that the church in America is not growing. Are these studies true? One thing that seems to challenge this data is that there are church's who are adding more people and some of them are even building new and bigger buildings to hold these new people. So what is going on? Well, researchers have found that there are very few new believers in the American church and that the new people that are coming to churches are not new Christians, but people who are leaving other churches. People leave church's for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes they may not like the way things are being done so they jump ship. This may be doctrinal issue, leadership philosophy, or even something as simple as the style of worship music or the color of the carpet. This information forces us to ask the question, Are we a part of a church or a family? In a church it is common place move from place to place but is it that way in a family? Unfortunately divorce rates are high and many times the church mentality seems to prevail in marriages as well. What if this approach was applied to our children or our parents? We can't just go find another set of parents or get rid of our children and find new ones can we? Sadly, there is probably some data to be found that shows that people are actually trying to do this, but things do not need to be this way. How can we overcome this? If we look to the bible and see how God loves we will see that His love is unconditional. He loves us regardless of our sins and struggles. If we can love our brothers and sisters in our churches like God loves us we will then be on our way to overcoming the problem of moving from church to church and maybe then new believers will be added to our churches. So are we a part of a church or a family? The answer to this question is the church should be a family and seek to stick together through the good and the bad.

Community at WBC

April is community month here at WBC. Are you in a community group? We are not meant to follow Christ alone. The book of Genesis tells us that. Jesus also modeled a life of community with His disciples when He was on the earth. If we are to follow Jesus we need to live in community. This month we hope to encourage you to get involved in a community group here at WBC as we answer the following questions: Are we a part of a Church or a Family? Can a church be a Family? How do I join a Community group? The following pages will seek to briefly answer these questions for now please consider these words from the book of Acts. 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-27
